yes, we've all had this exact thing lately, unfortunately for me mine ended up including a nasty painful ear infection I hate earache...

and yes, the virus does leave you feeling really unwell doesn't it. I second sleeping sitting up as far as you can. I had honey drinks with lemon for purposes of trying to stop the cough. Also if you feel really bad or have lots of pain you can take two sorts of painkillers together, like aspirin and paracetamol and I find this really helps far more than just one type on it's own.

And resting is really important, I am convinced that I got the ear infection as I was so run down because I did too much while ill.

Rhubarb · 23/02/2008 18:10

Sore throat here, plus horrible headache that won't shift, and generally feeling unwell.

No cough yet though.

noddyholder · 23/02/2008 18:44

we all have earache too but hopefully not infection.I started with just throat rhubarb and now am on my knees!Resting when I can.

headache, sore throat, feel rubbish. no energy and coldy like feeling, dh had it last week and is still not right now

SparklyGothKat · 23/02/2008 18:56

I had it last month, completely floored me! I couldn;t do anything. nasty virus

CorrieDale · 23/02/2008 19:09

Horrible virus. It started like a cold and by the middle of the week I was saying 'DH, this is NOT a common cold.' I still have a bit of a cough, and find that by 5pm, I get that hit by a brick feeling that you really don't want at bath and bedtime. I understand it takes over 3 weeks to shift. Roll on the week after next then.

chocolateshoes · 23/02/2008 19:20

I'm on NightNurse. It does help with the sleep but can't say my cold is getting any better. Virtually no voice. Really grim. And I stupidly started toilet training DS 2 days before it started!

Cam · 23/02/2008 19:21

I got a sore throat on Tursday, still have it and feel generally exhausted

I always get ill in February

Rhubarb · 23/02/2008 19:22

I'm wondering if a bit of wine will cure mine?

Cam · 23/02/2008 19:22

I tried that and it numbed it for a bit

chocolateshoes · 23/02/2008 20:34

Yes a chilled white soothes my throat a bit. The problem is you have to keep drinking & then mixing it with NightNurse isn't so great the next morning

Bubbaloo · 23/02/2008 23:59

It's definately doing the rounds here as we've all had it.
Dh is still really quite bad and has been told he now has a severe chest infection,is coughing up phlem the whole time and is currently on 11 tablets a day,to try and get rid of it,but it isn't shifting at all.
It's got to be the worst virus he's ever had-really horrible thing to catch!

noddyholder · 24/02/2008 12:32

this is a nightmare ds threw up this morning and I just feel dreadful.
