Is it worth seeing anyone about this bite?

I’ve had this bite on my arm for a couple of weeks and it’s still a bit red, they never usually last this long on me. I don’t think it’s infected and I’m on daily antibiotics anyway. Should I just give it a bit longer or go to get it seen.

I would definitely get it seen.

ChrisPPancake · 29/06/2023 22:08

I'd get it seen. Is the dry skin further along related? Or is the red as far as it has spread?

It may be infected but resistant to the antibiotics you're already taking.

PimpMyFridge · 29/06/2023 22:09

Get yourself to a doctor! That's a long enough strong enough reaction to need anti biotics and a check.

LIZS · 29/06/2023 22:17

Is it hot, spreading?

PurposefulBear · 29/06/2023 22:18

Check, not normal

OutDamnedSpot · 29/06/2023 22:29

What’s the dark bit in the middle? Is it a scab, or is there a chance it’s a tick?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/06/2023 22:32

I’d get it checked. Might need stronger ABs.

Sometimesgood · 29/06/2023 22:32

You need Flucloxacillin at the very least

Iloveanicegarden · 29/06/2023 22:36

Saw a thing on TV today and that looks like a typical tick bite. Get it seen ASAP

Flidina · 29/06/2023 22:48

Yep I had 2 bites like that, one on my leg and another on my stomach, not sure what bit me, but it took 2 lots of antibiotics to clear it up, so you should definitely get it checked again.

This! You may not be on the right antibiotics to treat this

SageHearts · 29/06/2023 23:15

That looks like it was a pretty nasty bite OP. I agree with others, you may need a different or stronger antibiotic to clear it up as it looks infected.

I’ve managed to get an appointment for later this afternoon. It’s a scab in the middle. I’m on twice daily doxycycline which I think they give for lime disease so hopefully covered there. I am on immunosuppressants so maybe partly why it’s taking so long.

Glad you got an appointment. The drugs you take for immunosuppression are usually low dose for prophylactic cover and wouldn't help an acute infection

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 01/07/2023 19:16

Glad I went yesterday as it got worse, on some Flucloxacillin now.

I always react badly to insect bites and am experienced in the dossing up on antihistamines, hydrocortisone cream and draw round it to check for spreading but 7 days is my cut off point. If it is not showing improvement by then its of to the professionals. So I'm glad you did. Hope it sorts it out.

Sometimesgood · 01/07/2023 23:46

Thanks for the update and glad you hear you got the right treatment at last

Bearpawk · 01/07/2023 23:47

Ouch you poor thing !
