Mirena coil side effects

I use the mirena coil - it was fitted last Octoberish. But I've noticed recently that:

  • my hair is thinning
  • my skin is far spottier
  • I'm putting on weight without my diet being that much different from before

Is this a common occurrence when on Mirena or am I just getting old (no idea about the spots though?!)

I put on weight. I had to have mine taken out because it caused more irregular bleeding. Ironically it was supposed to stop that.

Irregular bleeding is the other thing. I'd rather have a period for a defined 5 days than the random spotting that seems to go on for ages

Put on weight???

say it ain't so!

I'm having it fitted on Thursday - can't go on with gruesomely heavy periods as they are making me anaemic

Shall I just stuff my neck with Dairy MIlk now and save time?

I am getting spots to when I never used to. It has taken almost a year to settle down to regular periods of hardly any bleeding at all. Having said that, my iron levels are much better. No weight gain and no thinning hair- yet.

I love mine. No periods for 3 years now and it was previously so bad that I had to stay in near/on the loo. It took a few months to settle down, but was instantly better.

I think I'm probably as spotty as I was. Not sure if I've put on weight - I am attempting to exercise more now I'm in my 40s and think that any weight 'creep' is due to sedentary mnetting!

go for it. It'll make such a difference.
