Constantly sick...starting to worry

So I have been constantly unwell for the past month and a bit, I've had stomach issues which I was diagnosed with ibs for, I've had tonsilitis and a horrific stomach bug all in the space of 4 weeks, I am so so run down and stressed. I constantly have a feeling of weakness/general unwell and feel I can't function. My symptoms almost match cfs which I pray it is not as I know the treatment options is limited, I'm really concerned that something is not right with me in general as I'm sick so often and now I just feel stuck in a rut of feeling really weak and unwell with no apparent cause. Doctors prescribed anti biotics as they thought maybe tonsilitis didn't completely go but I have one day left off them and I still feel as awful as I did when I first took them. What could be causing this?

Go back to the GP and ask them to do a full health check, blood tests, urine test, blood pressure, the lot. You're clearly not right, and you need to rule out any underlying cause other than just being run down.

I agree blood tests and health check. I’d also ask about auto-immune conditions because they are linked to IBS and you catching every bug indicates your immune system may not be working too well.

Exhausted immune cells linked to irritable bowel syndrome

A specific type of irritable bowel syndrome is associated with exhaustion of the immune system in patients, researchers have discovered for the first time.

Did the doc test for helicobacter pylori?

I hope you recover asap.

Thank you, I feel like that's my second home at this point. I've never felt so unwell with no known cause, usually I know if it's viral but right now I just feel so sicky and really weak. It's really worrying me that there's something wrong that I don't know about

Did you get better?

Hey! Sadly still suffering but they think it could be gastritis/pylori.

Have you had a gastroscopy ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 01/08/2023 17:21

Also have they checked your b12 ?

I haven't had one yet and they haven't, however once I take pylori treatment they said they will fast track refer me as it hasn't worked if so, which shows them I don't have it.
