yeah I do, have been on them for years, I like a glass of wine or so

IrisGold · 26/06/2023 12:58

Yes there is no reason to refrain from alcohol. DS27 takes them as does DH. Both drink some alcohol.

wineandsunshine · 26/06/2023 20:43

Yeah, I take 3 tablets per day and can have a few Gins on them!

I know this is an old thread but was just looking up the same.. I have to start bisoprolol 1.25mg on Monday and cardiac nurse told me to avoid alcohol, caffeine and chocolate..doesn't sound very appealing tbh
I've been put on it for benign ectopics and have asthma so I'm on a low dose.. like a beer at weekends I only ever have one when I drink but worried as told to avoid it? Some of you on here seem to be able to drink with it though

I've been on these for years, and although I don't drink alcohol I live on coffee and chocolate 😳

Wherehaveallthepopchipsgone · 26/04/2024 20:44

@pippapipps I was on low dose bisaprolol for SVT (since had a cardiac ablation to fix so have stopped taking them now) and I also have ectopics. Alcohol, caffeine and chocolate can make ectopics worse which is probably why she told you to avoid them, but having them on bisaprolol won't have an adverse effect. Some people get lower HR when drinking so also taking the bisaprolol can make that worse, my HR goes up while drinking!

It does take a few weeks to adjust to the meds though, I felt very sluggish and tired until I got used to it!

Hmmm, I've been on 1.25mg for several years and nobody mentioned that to me. Fortunately I don't drink alcohol, have virtually no caffeine, and seldom have chocolate though!

My husband is on 2.5mg daily and enjoys several pints a few times a week with no problems

pippapipps · 27/04/2024 15:17

Thanks for replies it's reassuring to hear he w o there's are with a little alcohol on bisoprolol, I would definitely miss never being able to have a drink .. was just worried there was a sinister reason for not being able to drink with this tablet when she said to avoid alcohol etc ..as long as it's not dangerous to drink and it seems it isn't harmful then I will try a beer next weekend.. only ever drink one anyway unless it was an occasion..

pippapipps · 27/04/2024 15:19

Sorry first line should read... reassuring to hear how people are with alcohol on bisoprolol
