Magnesium supplements for sleep

Has anyone had any success with magnesium supplements for improving sleep quality? According to my fitbit I am mainly in light sleep, last night I had 4 minutes deep sleep. I also wake at around 4am.

I have been perimenopausal and on hrt for 18 months but sleep seems to have got worse in the last 6 months. I fall asleep at night quickly though.

Yes - started taking them a couple of months ago and they have made an appreciable difference.
I take two of these a night l.

46, perimenopausal, on HRT ( which also helped)

Yes, much improved sleep plus it completely stopped me grinding my teeth.

Thanks both, sounds promising, I think I will give them a try. @missfliss I found the barefoot ones on amazon but they seem quite a lot more expensive than other brands, is there a particular reason you went for this one?
I was wondering about the bestimmune one which is also glycinate.

Yes I take it every day and it really helps my sleep. I still wake up a couple of times but my sleep is a lot deeper and I find it easier to drop back off when I do wake up. Ashwaganda helps during the day as well if you're suffering with anxiety/low mood

I have ordered some, in the meantime though I had a kiwi fruit after dinner and had the best night sleep for a long time. I am wondering if this was a fluke or will really help long term. My deep sleep is normally max 20 minutes and last night I got 1.5 hours!

Started 2 weeks ago and I can now sleep through the night. I was sceptical but delighted with the results

Hmm tried my first night of magnesium and slept really badly. I am wondering if it takes a while to adjust or perhaps my body just does not need it.

Feel nauseaus, slight headache, mild diarreah and bloating, gained 1kg overnight whereas normally my weight goes down overnight.

I think I will stop the magnesium and go back to the kiwifruit as they seemed to work really well!

Not me. I tried Mg supplements, different sorts, for 3 or 4 months. Made zero difference.

I take them at periods when I find I'm not sleeping deeply enough but not all the time. They work really well for me.
