Another gallbladder attack

About 18 months ago I had what my GP suspected was a gallbladder attack. I had an ultrasound and it was clear.
It happened maybe 5/6 times over a year and then nothing from November 22 until now.
I had an attack on Friday, then Tuesday. My GP took bloods and other than bilirubin being slightly raised they were fine. My GP said he would refer me to a specialist if it happened again but they may be reluctant to do anything as there was no evidence of stones in the imaging.
Last night I had another attack which lasted 4 hours. Right now I don’t know whether I’m at the start of another attack or feeling the residual attack of the last.

I don’t know what to do now. I’m in pain but painkillers aren’t helping. I don’t have a fever so it’s not an emergency. I was sick last night and have no appetite today and feel too scared to eat anyway.

Did they scan your liver? Sometimes if you have a fatty liver it can cause discomfort.

Aww Op, it’s so painful I know, I can empathise. The best advice I can give is to avoid any fatty foods, as that seems to cause an attack. I hope you feel better soon.

What painkillers are you taking? I was given codeine which I had a terrible reaction to. I thought the pain was all gall stones but turned out I was allergic to and was in agony. Took this happening a few times to work out. Best thing i found for gall stone pain were suppositories, not fun but omg the pain was gone soooo quickly xx

Hi OP, I have just been diagnosed with gallstones and have a long thread where lots of people have given advice. I'll link it so you can have a look if you like. Sorry you're feeling so bad, it is a really awful pain.

I was advised to take buscopan by a doctor at A&E for my gallbladder symptoms. These helped me make it through until I had my op.

I first got scanned for gallstones in 2016. They said it was clear. When I was at my pre op appointment in 2019 the nurse told me that I had in fact had gallstones in 2016. I was well annoyed about it
