Disc bulge and sciatic / femoral nerve pain

I'm now almost 7 weeks into this and it still hurts. A lot. Started off as excruciating pain, then moved on to more manageable pain and lately the odd day when it's begun to feel as if it might be on the mend. But yesterday and now today have been very bad. This evening it's sore all the time, even just sitting which is usually ok.. So I'm feeling very sorry for myself this evening. Anyone had this and can offer some hope?

Hey op, sorry to hear this, it can be so painful! Has a disk protrusion been formally diagnosed? If it has, the pain is usually worse when sitting as this is where the disk is loaded. If it’s aggravated try to minimise regular sitting… change to up standing/walking/laying down will all be more comfortable. Disc pain usually settles within 3months. Be sure to check the nhs website for other symptoms to watch out for-e.g. ankle weakness, difficulty passing urine, numbness around the genitals etc, ensure to speak to 111 if they begin.

Best advice I ever got was to lie on tummy with biggest pile of cushions I could manage under my chest. I used a semi deflated gym ball in the end. It helped so much. It effectively pushes the disc back in by making your spine curve the other way.

Don't do this if it really really hurts, obviously.
