Painful lump on toe. A bit scared

I've been feeling a horrible pain in my toe for a couple of weeks. I thought it was just because I've been walking a lot recently, it didn't cross my mind to inspect my feet.

Today the pain became particularly bad so tonight I had a look and have discovered this hard, painful lump on the inside of the toe next to my little toe.

I know my pic isn't great but it's difficult for me to get a good pic because of the position of the lump.

Does anyone know what this is? It isn't a corn or a callous (I've had both before). I've frightened myself by googling toe tumours. I'm going to make an appointment to see my gp anyway but in the mean time can anybody suggest what this could be?

Is it hot to the touch? Could be gout?

It is possible to get a corn - usually a soft one - between the toes. I'd make an appointment with a podiatrist and let them have a look at it .

I thought I had arthritis in my foot for months and it turned out to be a veruca! I’d see a podiatrist before a GP.

It could even be a boil.

Yes it is, and the pain from it is like a burning pain. I've made an appointment with my gp, hopefully they can help with the pain as my job is all on foot and I have to wear closed in shoes. The only relief I'm getting is when I'm barefoot.

Thank you for your response x
