Painful gland

So for the past couple of days, I've had one gland under my jaw which has come up swollen and painful. My lower gums on the same side are tender when I brush my teeth and one area is particularly sore as I had some food trapped down inside. It's not red though and I can't feel any lumps. I assume that this is what's causing the swollen gland. What should I do - emergency dentist or give it a bit longer? I did actually book a check up today but it's not for another month yet! It all started on Friday evening.

i currently have the same thing, can I ask how long it lasted?

I had a stone made of toothpaste once in my salivary gland. After the X-ray of the gland, they made me swill very strong lemon juice around my mouth which washed the contrast medium out of the gland. And the "stone" came with it too.

Is this a salivary gland thing or gum/teeth thing?

@Idontwant2 I bought some Corsodyl mouth wash the day after I made the OP and it went away after about 3 days.

@dfkdfc It was a mild gum infection from the food that got trapped I think. This post has reminded me to bring this up to the dentist when I see him next week Grin

@MmeHug fingers crossed mine goes soon then. I think mine is from food also because the first day it was just my gum that was swollen but The next day the gland came up.

I’m on day 4 now and it has gone down slightly but my gum is still a bit tender so I’ve been doing salt water rinses. I did managed to get a last minute appt at the dentist to check it wasn’t an abscess as we are going on holiday and i don’t need that away from home but he did an X-ray and confirmed it wasn’t an issue with my teeth
