dd2 has conjunctivitis, do i need to take her to gp?

Dd1 had it last week, i bought her some antibiotic drops from boots, next day it was gone but now dd2 has it (following on from a cold), can i use the drops on her? they say from age 2 (she's 2 in a couple weeks). Im having trouble getting the drops in her eye, should i take her to the GP or carry on with the drops.

Im not feeling to good myself so i dont want to go to the doctors spreading germs unless i realy need to.

I wouldn't use the same bottle but I would think it would be OK to buy another one and use it on her.

My dd (2.4) is prone to conjunctivitis. These days I just clean eyes with salted cooled boiled water.

Btw - anti-bios only work with bacterial infections so if it is viral (as many colds are) then the drops won't work.

Hope I haven't confused matters.

I was told in boots i could use the same bottle on someone else as long as i clean the end before use, just unsure if she was too young for it as she's not 2 yet.

Keep going with the drops but agree get a fresh bottle.

Thanks yama, i will try the salted water, i dont like using antibiotics unless i realy need to.

If she's only a couple of weeks away from her birthday then I'm sure it's fine.

If they said to clean the bottle and re-use then go on their advice - I would use boiled water to clean it

My dcs were at a party at the weekend & we didn't know 'til we got there that the birthday boy had conjunctivitis! There he was sat with his eyes all stuck together, not even the gloop wiped out of them.

I said to his mum that when mine had it I used boiled water on a clean piece of cotton wool & cleaned their eyes really well each time the gloop came in them.

I kept my kids away from him (was easy as he is a baby, was his first b'day & they played outside on the bouncy castle) but lo & behold on Sunday morning, both mine woke up with conjunctivitis!

I got boiled water & washed etc... until yesterday whrn my SIL (who is a pharmacist) told me they needed drops... poor ds hates it
