Referral for possible BCC

Hi all,

I saw my GP this morning about a pinkish spot that appeared a few weeks ago on my arm that isn't healing. She has referred me under the 'non urgent' route to rule out a Basel Cell Carcinoma. So I could be waiting a month or two for an appointment. I'm hugely stressed (damn you health anxiety) and want to have a little cry.

Could I just ask for people's experiences of these clinics? I'm particularly keen to know if they check your skin fully all over to see if there are any other areas of concern. I have the sort of skin that is full of blemishes, spots and random weirdness!

Many thanks

(Picture isn't for diagnosis, just in case anyone has similar).

This looks exactly like my BCC. I was referred to a dermatologist. He looked very carefully at most of my skin to rule out any other possible lesions. I had the BCC removed in clinic 2 weeks later - I was surprised at the size of the wound - it needed 6 stitches!

Dm has had several removed. Very simple day procedure in clinic if it is bcc. They do not spread.

If you have others of concern ask them to look at them, they may take pictures and monitor.

I have also been referred for one, though my GP thinks it is an intradermal nevus and wants confirmation of her opinion. She also asked them to have a look at one on my back, which is dark. Again, she thinks just a mole that is darker than others but wants a second opinion. I am very anxious about it but thankfully I have BUPA so am being seen next Tuesday. From what I have read, a BCC is easily treated, especially if it is small - my query BCC mark is about 3mm (the darker one just 4mm).

Thank you for the replies everyone. @Teddybear4 I hope your appointment goes well next week!
@Soontobe60 thanks for the clarification, I will or course raise anything else I have of concern.

I just wish the anxiety would do one. My husband shrugged his shoulders and said "they'll just cut it off if it's anything, what you stressing about?" I wish I could have that relaxed attitude!

My husband is the same - "let's worry about it if there is something to worry about". Frustrating but he has a point.

I have loads of moles too, always have done, so I am going to have to get over my anxiety and do what I have always done and monitor for change otherwise I will be in a constant state of panic!
