Breast indentation

I will go to the doctor but just want peoples honest advice. I found an indentation on the side of right beast, near my underarm. It’s there when my arm is down by my side but disappears on raising my arm? Is this unusual? I’ll try add a photo to aid description. Thanks.

Absolutely go and get checked - it could be nothing, but occasionally puckering or tethering can be a sign of a breast cancer.

Not trying to panic you - it could easily be something simple related to the skin, just wanted to make sure you/ others know to get it checked.

Can you feel anything firm/hard underneath it?

Thisiscrazyshite · 15/06/2023 23:22

Thanks @helly29 , no, I can’t feel anything under it. I’m trying not to panic but I’m definitely worried. Thanks again.

That's more reassuring if there's nothing to feel - I know it's stressful but you'll feel better once it's been assessed.

Wishing you all the best x

I don't want to startle you or make you any more worried but please go get it checked out. From past experience indentation can be one of the signs of something more severe xx

Getting it checked is the responsible thing to do but chances are it’s nothing! Try to avoid asking for too much reassurance or googling as it rarely works and can often make anxiety worse (coming from a certified worry wart). Leave it for the doctors to look at 🙂

I had something similar - but when arm was raised. Was seen very quickly but discovered nothing there. Still not 100% sure what it was but my shoulder has now frozen on that side so I’m suspicious of something muscular related. Definitely go and get it checked out.

Thisiscrazyshite · 17/06/2023 00:40

Thank you, I’m not as worried today but have made an appointment for next week with gp to get it checked out. I can’t feel a lump and it disappears when I raise my arm, so that kind of reassures me.
I’ll get it checked out because it’s a change and don’t want to miss something.

Thanks again.

@Thisiscrazyshite OP I have this, so scared, what did it turn out to be??

Thisiscrazyshite · 16/09/2023 10:52

Hi @Healthfreak95, I went see my GP, who I trust 100%. She did an examination and was happy that it was just a dimple. She said she couldn’t feel a mass and it definitely wasn’t attached to anything. That really put my mind at ease.
She said to keep check in case anything changes and it has just stayed the same.

Best of luck, I know how much anxiety this can cause but please get it checked out to be on the safe side. 💕

@Thisiscrazyshite thank you for your reply honestly it means a lot. I’ve major health anxiety for a while now due to a few things, I’m 28 and there’s a slight dimple and a slight lump under it from what I can feel but again I have naturally quite lumpy boobs most of the time. My own GP isn’t around for 2 weeks so am waiting for the appt on the 28th. I’m scared shitless I have a small baby and it’s consuming me :( did your doc say what causes dimples?

Thisiscrazyshite · 16/09/2023 13:37

Ah, the very best of luck, you’re doing the right thing getting it checked and hopefully all will be fine.
I had a good bit weight loss recently and she felt it might have been caused by that but wasn’t sure.
The very best of luck, try not to dwell on it too much… easier said than done I know. Hopefully your baby will be a nice distraction for you 💕

And is yours still there? I’ve had a week or two of prodding and poking with my anxiety and I’m not sure could be intensely pushing on one spot cause damage and a dimple? I have to try push for an appt Monday morning as GP doesn’t have appt for another 2 weeks, and I’m waiting the last 4… for other reasons 🙈 thanks for your kind words xx
