At the weekend I was sick and had diarrhoea. Stopped being sick over night but diarrhoea carried on for a day.

Took imodium, all fine back to normal for a day and a half and ate normally, no probs.

Last night ate dinner felt very ill afterwards. Allll day today terrible cramping, nausea and diarrhoea that's awful. I can barely get out of bed I feel so unwell. I initially thought it was a bug but it's like something is wrong with my stomach and insides. Google shows up many possible reasons, but I think I should see a doctor in case of something like appendix or gallbladder issues. Unless any of you have had bugs similar and think it's normal. Any advice welcome, sorry for the gross post!

I had something a bit similar that came and went. Awful stomach cramps, diarrhea, feeling incredibly sick. I eventually went to the Dr and a stool sample showed I had salmonella. Have you eaten anything lately that you might have got food poisoning from?

Yes that's exactly how I am. Thank you for replying!
It's so bizarre that it stopped for nearly 2 days then came back. The last proper meal I ate was 5 days ago, cooked chicken and salad but my husband ate the exact same and is fine.

Have you got any animals? I'm 99.9% sure I got it from our ducks. No one else in my household had it either so it wasn't a standard stomach bug. I had antibiotics and been fine since.

If you have a stomach bug immodium is one of the worst things you can take as it basically stops your body getting rid of the bug / bacteria. So it sounds like it delayed it and now it’s coming into effect again with your body trying to get rid of it. I would give it a few days to settle; no immodium, just paracetamol and fluids and if it doesn’t resolve or you suddenly have very severe pain you should ring 111.

Thank you for your advice, I think you're right imodium may have prolonged it. I will see how I do over the weekend. Thanks again!

No sadly no animals! I will see what the doc says but not looking forward to a stool sample 😕🙈

Yep, I had the same the other week. I also took imodium and wonder if that delayed getting better. Stomach cramps were awful. I had eaten the same food as everyone else as well..

How funny, how long did it take you to feel better? It must be a horrible bug. But in a way I'm glad it's that, as I was feeling so ill I thought something was seriously wrong
