Iron levels

Need some general advice.Went to doctors because I have a few symptoms and have had one blood test result back v quickly - low iron. Doctor can't see me for follow up until mid July. Told book a routine appointment.

The thing is I have a full on week next week including a busy trip to Paris booked by my lovely dd (21). I'm 53 and slightly worried about keeping up and enjoying it. Would you start taking some iron supplements now before next appointment with the assumption that's what they will suggest to begin with?

I would phone and ask them if they can prescribe iron tablets - they will be a lot stronger than supplements you can buy.

I’m surprised they haven’t done it already and are making you wait for an appointment.

I guess maybe they want to look into what’s causing it but you can ask them if they can prescribe them in the interim.

Thanks. That's a good idea.
