Why is there an illegal alien in my stomach?

Hi, I have been getting stomach spasms behind my belly button, and across my lower abdomen for a few days now. I have had no pain, no indigestion, and no other symptoms. I don't think it is a muscle strain as it isn't sore at all. This is becoming really distracting, annoying; when I lie down you can clearly see the movement. I can feel it jumping away. I'm starting to think there is a little creature inhabiting my stomach. Does anybody know what this can be? Anybody experienced similar?

He hasn't had his results back to make sure everything okay. However we waited the recommended time. I definately don't want any more babies!

God I don't mean to scare you but I know someone who didn't wait for the results after having the snip and his wife got pregnant 😫

WHATwhenHow · 14/06/2023 15:47

Oh gosh @mrsbitaly did she have regular periods do you know?

I get this frequently. It seriously felt like a baby was kicking me the other day. Scary that I could see it from the outside too. I put it down to wind. It wasn't painful.

If it was a tape worm, you'd be feeling sick and losing weight..

WHATwhenHow · 14/06/2023 15:49

I would be so surprised as with 2 dc and constant tiredness, over 35, I think chances would be slim.

I have ibs and this is one of my symptoms. Like phantom kicks! Worse at different times. Can sometimes see the spasms

DiscoBeat · 14/06/2023 15:52

@WHATwhenHow
She had pain in her side, almost round to the back, but I don't know which side. Also felt generally very unwell and tired. But she was approaching 80 at the time.

WHATwhenHow · 14/06/2023 16:02

I don't think it's ibs with no other symptoms. Update I've done a pregnancy test and it's negative, I haven't missed any periods and had my period 3 weeks ago as well, so didn't think it would be that. If it was new I doubt my stomach would be moving already!

I have had something similar and it was just weakened stomach muscles after having a baby caused everything to move outwards, so I could feel my gut movement more.
It's gotten better after a few years but after ds was born I could swear it felt like baby movements, and sometimes I could see the spasms.

WHATwhenHow · 14/06/2023 16:06

@HoneybeesAndBluebells that's good to know. Dc2 is 3 but I did have them relatively close together. My stomach is pretty strong but who knows what it going on inside.

😂

Do a pregnancy test op. That's how I ended up with number 3!

Franticbutterfly · 15/06/2023 08:25

I had phantom kicks once.

My youngest nephew is due to that very reason!

Am I right in thinking that after a certain point a pregnancy test wouldn't show positive? I just can't think of another reason why your stomach would be moving to the extent that someone else could see it happening.

Paq · 15/06/2023 08:51

Have you been over exercising or drinking lots of water? Or are you excessively tired? I get muscle spasms like that and it's often for those reasons. Electrolyte drinks (and sleep) sort me out.

determinedtomakethiswork · 16/06/2023 18:06

Someone I knew was seven months pregnant before she realised. She was having a period every month though she was on the pill. Something that obviously gone wrong for her to conceive, but she wasn't aware seven months later of being sick or ill or anything like that.
