Bug bite - should I be worried???

Would you worry about this bug bite?

It just keeps getting bigger and it's now developed a white ring around it.

I have no idea what I've been bitten by but it's super itchy and hot.

Just wondering if it's a cause for concern or just a little reaction

Have you taken any antihistamine or put any antihistamine cream on it?

Looks normal to me, but I always react badly to bites. Have you taken any antihistamine or used a bite cream/ hydrocortisone on it?

I definitely recommend the hot spoon method if the itching is bad. You can Google, but essentially heat a spoon in very hot tap water / boiled water that's cooled a bit, and apply the spoon to the bite.

My boyfriend and dad have both reacted like this to bites and both needed antibiotics, my boyfriend’s one in particular got a really bad infection. Draw a line round it in biro and if it gets any bigger I’d go to the GP. I second taking an antihistamine.

Any chance it could be a tick bite?

I have literally no idea what's bitten me but I've tried antihistamines and it's just getting worse.

The skin is going quite hard now at the site of it and it's just spreading even more.

I got a bug bite two summers ago and it didn't feel bad at the time, but it turned into cellulitis and it was so painful. I could barely put my foot on the floor and it happened over a bank holiday weekend so had to wait until Tuesday to get help and when I woke up on the Tuesday morning it was bright red up to my knee almost. I had to have 2 weeks of antibiotics and stay home from work for 3 days as I couldn't stand on it.

could be fine (dh's bites sometimes get like this especially in hot weather)

but could also be that it is infected.

I could possibly be a bullseye ring round it, but I think it is too big for that. Bullseye ring is a sign that it is a tick bite and a sign of Lymmes disease.

I get bites like this a lot. Antihistime. Draw a ring around it. If it gets much bigger go to pharmacist.

all my bites end up like that! i take antihistamine and use hydrocortisone cream. rubbing a piece of lemon on it will stop the itch temporarily

Been to pharmacy as couldn't get in with the doctor at such late notice, he said he thinks it's a horsefly bite but as it's growing and the skin is hard rather than soft he thinks I need antibiotics.

So I'll ring them in the morning and hope for the best.

Piriton and hydrocortisone isn't really doing much but praying it's just in its angry irritated stage and not infected!

I always get this with horsefly bites!! I put antihistamine cream on but it’s gets v hard, hot and itchy! And my leg always is a lot bigger than the other! But then just goes away. My last bite looked a little different but still went away on its own.

Hi sorry to jump into this post but did your go away and return? Mine looks similar to
yours but it went down then went red again today after almost a week of it being gone
