Roaccutane... help!!

Been struggling with acne for years.. tried all the prescription creams etc and then the antibiotics which gave me chest pains and heart palpitations so I had to come off them. Yesterday I was finally put on roaccutane, I took one tablet last night and I've had chest pains all day. I'm scared but also been so depressed over the years about my skin that I'm refusing to believe it's the tablet. Surely 1 tablet couldn't give me chest pains? So frustrating, has anyone heard of this?

Speak to your prescribing dermatologist. I had a lot of symptoms from the moment I took my first tablet.

You may need to lower your dose to start with.

I ignored my symptoms and carried on taking the tablets when they were making me really ill. I regret it. I have never fully recovered from it.

@Muddlingthroughthissocalledlife Sorry to hear that, it's hard because you wait so long to go on this bloody tablet that you see as your only hope and then have to come off it. What were/ are your symptoms?

I don't want to denounce the drug, because it really is the last line of hope for people with treatment resistant acne and it works for a lot of people. I accept my experience was rare and I should have reported the smptoms and come off it. Instead I battled through it thinking the symptoms would resolve once I stopped taking the medication.

First stymptom was fatigue in all my muscles. I went from running half marathons to not being able to walk far. I would sleep for 17 hours at least per day. I had to go off work sick. I was more depressed than I have been and suicidal.

The other symptoms like dry lips, nose and hair were the least of my problems.

I never got above 20mg per day and wish I'd reduced straight away to see if these symptoms improved.

@Muddlingthroughthissocalledlife Thank you I will take your advice on board, maybe I'll give it a week and if I'm still getting them I'll stop.
