Small amount of foam/bubbles in wee (but not every wee)

Is this normal? May have always had it, really not sure, but as I only read by chance the other day it can indicate protein in urine never gave it much thought.

It doesn't happen every wee, have been drinking tonnes of water lately & must've peed at least 10 times today but have only seen it in the last couple. It's not loads, usually a couple of small patches of tiny foam like bubbles that usually end up around the edge of the bowl. Often, most or all of it will dissolve after a few minutes, other times a small amount will still be there half an hour later (tried not flushing to monitor it). I know it can be caused by peeing too fast but wouldn't that disperse quickly if so?

Sorry for the gross topic but wondered if anyone else had this and if normal. I last had my urine dipped for something else a year ago and it was normal.

Sounds normal

Foamy wee CAN mean that you are leaking protein in your urine. You may want to go and get a blood test to check kidney function as it can be one of the few signs of kidney problems (you tend not to have symptoms until later stages). You'll probably be fine but best to rule it out!

Thanks. I noticed a bit in a couple of wees last night after not seeing it for a few days ( I'm weeing A LOT atm due to my increased water drinking) Again, most dissolved within a few minutes with a bit remaining around the edge of the bowl. I honestly don't know if I've always had it from time to time as I didn't know it was a thing until reading something recently. I would've thought nothing of it and flushed, and certainly not studied it 🤣 I've read that concerning foamy urine looks like you've peed a pint of lager and it certainly doesn't look like that! Just a single layer of froth here & there around normal looking wee!

Plus I've only been looking at my wee more closely lately to see if my water drinking campaign was working. It is - much paler, was often quite dark & smelly due to mild dehydration I reckon!

Hmm, pretty sure I've seen a bit of foam like you describe from time to time, thought it was normal and down to gravity! No idea if it dissolves after time as I just flush & go!

A little foam is normal.
My DS gets foamy as he is a kidney condition, it can look like a fizzy drink has been poured down the toilet and the bubbles don’t disappear.

Also bleach in the bowl can cause foamy reaction when you wee!

We do have a water softener at home which includes the toilet water and, come to think iof it, it hardly ever happens at work - I wee a lot at work as keep big water bottle on my desk. Home today and seen a bit of foam in last two wees despite keeping up with the water drinking!
