Sore willy

Ds1 was complaining this morning that his willy hurts. When I looked I noticed it was very red,so I smothered it in Sudocreme, thinking it would be better by now.
About 10 mins ago,he done a wee(in his nappy)and was crying with the pain.It doesn't look any redder but I've changed him and put more Sudocreme on and given him some Calpol. He's now gone for hs nap.
When he woke this morning, his nappy was very heavy and had even leaked through to his vest,so wondering if it was the wet nappy that's made him sore or whether it could be anything else.
Probably a stupid question, but can boys also get water infections etc?.
There's no redness/soreness anywhere else in the nappy area.
Tia.

He needs to see the doctor for antibiotics. Both my DSs have had this. Keep the fluids up and calpol. Hope he's better soon.

yes boys can get urine infections, you should try to get a mid-stream sample from him and take it along to the docs, and keep his fluids up in the meantime.

It could also be an infection under his foreskin.

either way, it sounds like he needs a course of anti-biotics.

boys can get urine infections......I know, my friends DS had one, but he and she was ignore by the doctor as the doc claimed otherwise (sorry, that isn;t really my rant).

yes, boys can, altho it isn;t as common as it can be in girls. but it sounds more like he is sore rather than a wee infection. thats isn't to say tho that you shouldn't get him checked out. he may need some anibiotic cream.......willy are rather delicate.

lots of fluids tho in the meatime, like strawberry says, and calpol is always good

Thanks.
Our GP has half day on a Thursday,so I won't be able to get him there til tomorrow at the earliest.
Will see if I can get him to perhaps do a wee on the potty later on,so I can that as a sample.I have a feeling it is more sore than an infection though as if I go to touch it,he screams.
Will keep up with the Sudocreme and see how he is in the morning.

Could be Ballinitis - a quite common infection under the foreskin. My DS2 had this.

Saw GP think he had some cream for it and antibiotics.

Ended up at A&E as ds1 was in so much pain and it had started to swell.
Turns out he does have an infection and is on anti biotics,so hopefully it won't be too long before they kick in.

Poor thing Hope he's better soon.xx

cluelessnchaos · 21/02/2008 21:37

is it mainly red on the end of his willy or is it like a skin rash, ds had ballinitis and was in a lot of pain, he was prescribed an antibitotic cream and it cleared up really quickly

Bubbaloo · 21/02/2008 21:54

It's mainly the end which looks red and swollen.
Just hope he starts to feel a bit better in the morning.

how is he? If its the same as ds has had (and it sounds like it) it wont go away on its own, ds ended up passing discharge and blood, and there is the chance the foreskin could get stuck if the willy swells too much.

Bubbaloo · 23/02/2008 00:07

He seems alot better today,thanks.
Infact,he hasn't cried at all,is happily taking the anti biotics and isn't even wincing when I'm changing his nappy.
It does still look a bit red and swollen though.
