Is there a reason we don’t just use fluconazole?

We’re meant to use the pessary and cream first, and then oral pill if that doesn’t work… but the pessary and cream never ever work for me!

I don’t often get thrush but after a round of antibiotics, it’s reared its ugly head.
Why don’t we just use the oral pill?

Genuine question btw, is there a reason?

No idea, but I always just go straight to tablet

No idea, I just buy the generic flucanazole for a fiver.

I always just pop to the pharmacy & buy the pharmacy brand tablet too. They’ve never questioned why I’m buying it & insisted I use cream first instead.

I always recommend the capsule. With or without cream is the lady's choice.

Noone says to use a pessary first do they?
The oral tablet is just another option
You can buy them cheaply online

Not sure about this particular medicine but usually topical stuff is preferred as a first line treatment because side effects are less likely.

bonfirebash · 09/06/2023 19:42

I'm the opposite, oral tablet doesn't do anything for me

Nice guidelines recommend the tablet as first line.
