Lipomas question!

I went to the gp with a large lump in my side that I feel is rock hard and cannot love as it feels attached to like my hip if that makes sense.

she couldn’t find it at first then when I pointed it out she barely touched it and said it’s nothing to worry about. I asked if she thought it was moveable and she said yes it’s nothing to worry about.

she gave me a leaflet on lipomas. Are lipomas usually just diagnosed by a quick poke? Sorry to sound like an arse I’m just worried!

My GP who is renown for scaring people to death with his not so reassuring comments, sent me for an ultrasound. He said he was pretty sure it was nothing but as mine had uneven borders or something, he would order a scan.

I have read that GP's can usually diagnose by touch and a scan is not needed to diagnose a lipoma. Try not to worry, you don't sound like an arse by the way!

My hubby was also sent for a scan and it was confirmed it was a lipoma.

Ah ok thank you!!

I don’t know whether to go back for another opinion and see if they would refer for a scan. It feels so hard and it doesn’t move when me and my partner feel it.
