Have one myself, and have just been speaking to SIL whose sister has one too and has been referred to a dermatologist.

I know there is a gel patch called epi-derm by Biodermis that is supposed to help. Think it's quite expensive though. Type "gel patch for keloid scarring" into Google and they come up with a number of products.

I think it's a good idea to speak to GP first though. Good luck

sorry -only just saw your response. Ihave just been to the gp this morning and he scared me by saying it will never go and could become bigger! is this your experience of them? it just looks so unsightly and is right in the middle of my scar.

thanks for the patch idea - will look into this - he has prescribed me a steriod cream.

Mine is keloid and only 4 months old. I havent done anything about it yet because I will probably have a repeat C/S next time (if I'm lucky enough to get preggy) and ask them to cut it out. I've heard that Bio Oil works too but I've not tried it. Let us know how the steroid cream works.

my whole c/section scar is keloid and there really is no effective treatment, you can have the scar surgically removed but obviously risk a new keloid scar growing , some research claims steroid injections can help and a type of silicone gel is available ( never worked on any patients i have given it too) i think you really just have to accept it

will keep you updated. got to pop out now.

does yours look like a red raised dome in middle of your scar?don't answer that if its too personal!

Have been using bio oil everyday - my son is now 7mo -this has only popped up in the last few days!

Mine started healing really well but the whole wound is now an angry red colour.
It's not painful, just unsightly. It's a good job my mummy tummy hangs over it!!

Just keep an eye on it that there's no infection, I'm sure there isn't, it sounds just like hypertrophy of the scar which is essentially what keloid is I think.

geminigirl - just a quick update - the bump on my scar was not getting better and in the end i went back to a different doctor - who said that it wasn't a keloid and was an infection that was on its way out! she suggested leaving well alone and stopping using the keloid cream. it has now nearly sorted itself out thankfully.
