Insect bites

I've been getting bites from something for the last few weeks.
Very angry looking, itchy things. Of the first lot one got a bit inflamed and I ended up with a lovely blister next to it but after a trip to see the pharmacist and told all was fine I thought that was it.
A few days later I got another cluster of them on my thigh, again angry looking with swelling and then bruising. The bruising is still there and it's painful. I also now have a cough, runny nose and stingy eyes and I'm exhausted. I've never suffered from hay fever before but it could be that although I've been taking antihistamines to stop the itching.
DH thinks they are all connected but I'm not sure and don't know if it's worth trying to get a GP appointment as the bruising will all be gone by the time I do get to see anyone.
Any ideas what is going on and if I should be even a little bit concerned rather than just itchy and snotty. TIA

Pop to your local pharmacist. They will no doubt recommend u buy some antihistamines. No prescription needed either.

Oh sorry failed to read u have already taken them.

Are you sure they are really bites?

blibblibs · 07/06/2023 16:12

I'm not sure what else they would be, if not bites.
DS has a few too but no swelling or bruising.

I had this, convinced something was biting me, thought it was fleas and then bedbugs, even got pest control in and it turned out I have discoid eczema. Sore red itchy spots that burn all over

Some photos, first is the blistered one, second is the swelling and third is the bruising today.

I don't know what it might be but it looks as if you really should get this looked at. Can you try for an urgent GP appointment or do you have a Minor Injuries Unit near you? If not, go back to the pharmacist, or try a different one.

Could be allergies rather than bites. I’ve had similar.

I have reactions like that with mozzies. Didn't used to. It's a thing that has developed. Just very reactive skin. In the past I have had blisters and bruises from sand flies and ticks too. Oh, and fleas, although haven't had a flea bite for years. Just keep taking the antihistamines, blob on Davlon or Tea Tree, and depending on which critter you think it is, give yourself a good spray with repellent when out and about. It's a PITA. I sympathise.

OTC HC cream is also good. I can't use the anti bite cream for some reason.
