Nightly leg cramps after damaging sciatic nerve

I have a gp appointment booked but thought I'd ask on here if anyone has any tips or experience of my problem.
About 4 years ago, I permanently damaged my sciatic nerve in my right buttock causing complete loss of sensation down the back of my thigh, behind my knee & partial numbness on my foot. Neurology said nothing they could do for me , the damage was permanently. I had trouble walking at first & would fall but have gotten used to it now.
My problem now is leg cramps. I do get them through the day but mostly at night when I'm relaxed. I get awful muscle twitches all through my leg multiple times a day and these awful cramps behind my knee, about my ankle and foot. They are agonising and are getting more frequent and more intense. Any advise on how to try and stop this from happening?

Have you spoken to a chiropractor? They are very effective at curing sciatica itself (I know this is not what you have), so maybe able to help with the pain side of things
