Naproxen withdrawal

I've been taking 500mg naproxen daily for about 3months while waiting for back pain while waiting for an appointment, but I'm fed up of the side effects so have stopped taking them. I feel terrible - mild fever, physically swollen areas on my chest, terrible headache (which I expected). And the side effects from taking the naproxen (nightmares, constipation, dizziness) haven't completely worn off yet so I'm feeling pretty awful overall (not to mention the actual back pain coming back of course).
I thought naproxen wasn't addictive and there was no danger to stopping cold Turkey, but I'm really suffering - has anyone had this and can tell me how long it lasted? I can't decide whether to stick with it or just give up and go back on the drugs - which then seems like a never ending cycle...
