Possible Shin Splints

So I spent a few days dancing, a week ago, which I don’t normally do and am now in pain. It is pain in the front of both shins so a quick google suggests I have shin splints. Only trouble is it also says it could be stress fractures.
I tried to get a gp appointment for today but receptionist said physio would be better and they can send me for X-rays if needed. Trouble is the physio appointment I have been given is in three weeks time.
Is this something that can wait for three weeks, I am in constant pain, not doing anything to exacerbate it but even just pootling about the house is making it hurt?

If you can afford it, I'd make an appointment with a private sports injury clinic. I know these aren't available in all areas of the country, but in most urban areas there will be a good one. My DS has recently had treatment for shin splints that was very effective and only took a couple of sessions to sort out.

Thank @maranella , do you recommend this as I would get an appointment sooner, or because you feel the treatment would be better?

Both. Obviously I don't know which clinic you'd go to, who would treat you, or what the treatment would be, but NHS physio is very bare bones IME.
