Broken arm, cast itching

So Friday I tripped over a step in the pub and have broken my legs arm (humerus). 2 years back I fractured the right shoulder 😥

Unlike last time when I had surgery, this time I have a cast on. While the pain was worse last time, the itching under the cast is driving me mad.

My husbands gone out for antihistamines and I've tried the hairdryer on the co9l settin. The hospital said definitely n9t to the knitting needle trick! Would an ice pack work!

BTW I had a bone density scan a year back. I'm in the early stages of osteoporosis. I'm taking calcium and vitamin D and walking the dog and doing exercise classes like lbt, zumba to increase weight baring exercise.

Well the only thing that ever worked for me was the knitting needle (well actually a bbq skewer as I dont knit) so no ideas if thats not allowed.

I asked the nurse who was putting the 0paster on about a knitting needle, she laughed and said she was about to warn me off that, as the cann cause wounds and then the plaster etc can get in to cause an infection. 😂i suppose the blunt end of a knitting needle, knife etc which won't cause a wound might be OK.

I'm so angry with myself, I'd had a couple of drinks and tripped up over a step. I now feel I wasted NHS time and am in such pain and can't get washed or dressed because of the cast so can't go out and it's lovely out there. I've learnt a hard lesson for sure. 😣
