Is this menieres disease?

For a while now I have been experiencing dizzy spells, and a slight static noise in ny left ear. Sometimes the whole left side of my face feels very tight and my ear always feels very full. I have had an MRI scan 3 weeks ago and still waiting for the results. I am at my wits end, as it is effecting me daily. The only thing that makes me feel better is sitting or lying down.

Does anybody know whether this sounds like menieres disease? Or know what the symptoms could be? The GP looked into ny ear and stated she couldn't see anything. I am waiting for an ENT appointment but the waiting list is 63 weeks

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your dizziness and worry about it.

I can't offer any advice, but I'm suffering similar and also worried it's meniere's.

I have tinnitus almost constantly and a feeling like my ear is blocked up and in the past couple of months I've had a few dizzy spells where I can't do anything but sit down and wait for it to pass.

Also waiting for ENT which Dr said would be about a year's wait.

It's horrible isn't it, hopefully yours goes completely soon or you get seen and some treatment.

Thank you for your reply and sorry you are suffering also.

I have a hypnotherapy session booked tomorrow as doctors first said it was anxiety, but I am only getting the anxiety because of these symptoms as I always think the worst. I had originally told myself I had a brain tumour. I am now getting dizzy spells every single day and it's taking over.

I hope you get sorted soon too x

There are excercises that improve things, my grandmother has to do them, really helped. I don't know if she saw a physio as it was a long time ago.

I had similar symptoms, plus tingling down one side of my scalp and face.

It turned out to be a form of migraine.

No terrible headache, just the feeling of pressure.

Did your symptoms show up after a virus? Because I experienced the same and it turned out to be damage from a virus.

Charl871 · 03/06/2023 18:22

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I will look at those exercises as I have already tried several.

I don't believe it's from a virus, it seems to have just came out of no where and getting worse by the day.

@Charl871 Did you get any answers? I'm suffering with a similar thing and wondering if it's menieres.

Charl871 · 01/01/2024 15:40

I went to and ENT and they said everything is fine, I have now noticed the back of my neck gets very tight, so I believe its got something to do with my c-spine area x

Have a look online at the symptoms of vestibular migraine too.

Baircasolly · 01/01/2024 15:42

If it gets better in certain positions, did your GP suggest positional vertigo BPPV? There are manoeuvres you can look up and do at home - they may help.

I get random dizzy spells, sometimes linked to migraine, sometimes seemingly random. I think mine are often sinus related - could tie in with a feeling of tightness in your face?

Thanks for replying. It's so confusing, I bet you'll have another wait now to see someone different to help. At least ENT have reassured you that it's nothing to do with your ears.
