Cold sores- keep popping up!

Hello. I’ve had cold sores all my life but can usually deal with them by using Zovirax. This time, I’ve had about 5 start that I’ve been able to kill of with the cream but they just keep popping up somewhere else! I’ve now got yet another (huge!) blister but under my nose this time.
I don’t know whether to just give up and let it come out as it seems determined to.
Has anyone else had this?

L-lysine daily.

TheStopButton · 02/06/2023 20:51

Thanks @FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee, do you take them when you feel the tingle or everyday?

Untimely it maybe a change of life style.
7-8 hours sleep
Fresh veg every day.
Drink plenty of water
Fresh air abs exercise
Also cut down on stress - easier said than done

Every day. Then I take another one or two if I feel one coming on. I also use a Herpotherm straight away. Doesn't always kill it completely but definitely stops them growing massive.

Aciclovir tablets.

Take a look at the Herpotherm pen on Amazon, it is battery operated and it works by heating up a tiny pad which you then put on the cold sore. If you catch it at the first stage, it usually kills it straight away. If the cold sore has already developed, I found using the pen speeds up the healing process, I wouldn't be without mine now.

Thanks everyone.
I’ve never heard of the pen thing so will look that up now!

I take l-lysine when I feel the tingle start - and take it all the time if I'm struggling to kick them.

I got aciclovir tablets prescribed by the gp and they clear them up quicker than the cream.

The heat pen helps but it doesn't half sting when you use it! I use compeed patches over night to stop them cracking while the tablets and l-lysine take effect

I take Acyclovir every day as a preventative measure, as I was getting coldsores at the rate of one a week and was permanently ill and couldn’t kiss my DH for a year.
Rarely get a cold sore now, and if I do they’re a lot smaller/short lived.

Lysine didn’t help me at all, neither did Zovirax or any other topical treatment.

Please be careful around babies if you’re getting lots of coldsores. Neonatal herpes is extremely dangerous, sometimes fatal.

I am on a 6 month course of acvlivor to prevent them. Only started it this week so I am hopeful it will help.
