Rushing feeling in leg

I’ve had a strange feeling in my leg for over a month now. I had a phone appointment with my GP after the first week where they said it sounds like a muscle twitch and should go away by itself. But it isn’t getting any better.

The best way I can explain it is that it feels like water is rushing or bubbling through a huge vein in my leg, but the vein is being squeezed tightly in one spot. It pulses like a heartbeat but doesn’t go at the right rhythm to be my actual pulse. I asked the GP about DVT as I was worried about that, but they said there would be other signs, like redness or swelling. I don’t have either. I have some aching pain in the back of my thigh sometimes but it’s quite mild. The feeling is not there all the time, but has been for hours every day, always worse when I exercise.

Does anyone recognise this feeling or have any ideas? I feel like I’m going mad. The GP said I should call again if anything changes, but nothing has, it just hasn’t got any better. Would a muscle twitch be this persistent? If so, does anything help? I’ve been told to take ibuprofen if I have pain, but the pain isn’t enough to bother, it’s more the weird feeling.

I had this in my upper outer thigh for a while after I had my baby. It eased off after I lost the extra weight! I too went to the doctors and they checked for signs of blockage/DVT and found none…. Like I say it went away eventually once I went back to usual weight, but I understand your concern. It felt horrible!

I would love to know what this is. I had it the 1st yr of the pandemic. Craziest feeling but i haven't had it since.

I’m so glad it’s not just me! The GP was professional, but had that tone like I might have been imagining it, if you know what I mean? It’s just so unsettling.

I get this feeling quite alot it sort of feels like your leg has its own pulse for a while? I can't say it's worried me though as there's been no other symptoms! Keep on at your GP if it persists as it seems you have other related symptoms too x

It’s less throbbing than a pulse, more like bubbly rushing. It’s really hard to explain. It’s almost like how I imagine cows’ udders feel when they’re being milked!
