Hey all . As the title says really.

I suffer with very bad health anxiety , luckily i had a healthy pregnancy other than my anxiety around birth . Had a emcs but was ok . First time mum . 3 days post birth in hospital my heart rate lowered . Im usually high in hospital and they can see that from previous sats but I felt this shift . They got a dr to manually take it and it was about 70 ; for me this is low when a clinician is testing me as I have a phobia, usually over 100 in hospital or dr and 60/70 at home . Anyway they said I was fine . 4 days postnatal it dropped to 47 and I was panicking . Rang an ambulance as my HR has never seen 47 . Yea I’m slim etc and good BP but not an athlete . ecg was fine but the niggle of having no cause still sat with me . Then I kept feeling Cold , when usually I’m very warm . Anyways I pushed for my thyroid test , even though she was reluctant . My antibodies have come back sky high and my T4 has gone from 10.5 in jan , to 8.4 . He said he will refer me to an endo and go from thetr . Offered meds or wait until 6 weeks for my blood . I’m now in a state thinking my body is seriously going to pack up as I’ve read up on the related heart problems . I don’t want to leave my baby girl I’m so scared . Can anyone talk me down

I’ve had thyroid problems my whole life, 4 kids and I’m still here (I don’t have one was born without) heart is fine so try not to worry, If you are medicated with thyroxine you will live a relatively normal life with 6mo/yearly blood tests for your levels. There are so many women with under active thyroid and related disease so finding support is easy enough.

Try not a to read too much online as your anxiety will pick up the worst parts and not that you will likely live with this for the rest of your life medicated and be absolutely fine, both my Grandmas had thyroid problems, and my sister had her thyroid removed, speak to your drs and get your advice and information from them initially so you’re not winding yourself up to thinking your going to die as this really is very much rare and worst case scenario. I’m sure many others will say similar and everyone has a different experience of being hypothyroid.

Thanks for replying it’s such a minefield . I’ve been blessed with good health prior , so this is huge to me . Its made sense as I’ve not been enjoying my baby . I’ve lacked so much motivation which isn’t like me and I’ve now got terrible insomnia . I thought I’ve been depressed or going mad . So tired but my body can’t sleep . He gave me the option of meds or wait the 6 weeks for a repeat . Not sure if this is a because im post natal as he didn’t say I fully needed them
