My dd age 3 and a half has had high temps since Sunday evening, she has been feeling the cold which she doesn't normally and her eyes look as though she has a heavy cold, which she doesn't.

Her temp is still up tonight, it's been up and down all day, but she is fine in between, quite active etc.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this?

im sitting here panicking because my ds (8) has been to my mums for tea and shes just phoned and said he was very ill, a severe headache and a temp, am waiting for him to come back now so i can see what i should do

rosealbie · 19/02/2008 19:53

Oh dear, I hope he's OK.

My dd has said her head hurts from time to time but it isn't really bothering her I don't think.

There has been a bug here with headaches, so don't get too panicky. My kids and friends have had it.
I had it too, and I'm never ill- (thinks, what a rash thing to say)
My dh's cousin came to stay and I took myself to bed.
Just couldn't make merry
When I went out a day later I felt very strange, so it was a nasty bug.
And headache was a symtom.

Have you looked in her throat? DS had this and it turned out he had tonsilitis, although he made no mention of his throat hurting. The doc took one look and diagnosed him in 5 seconds flat. Just a thought.

twospecialgirls · 19/02/2008 22:08

my dd very sick since sunday constant throwing up tummy hurting temp 100 slept for nearly 3 full days , took her docs today and they reckon she has a water infection !! ( from wiping bum wrong way ) and needs a scan on her kidney to make sure it hasnt got that far poor little thing is very poorly
wrst bit is has been saying about a sore tummy for couple weeks and i ignored thinking she just didnt want to eat her dinner feeling very guilty

rosealbie · 20/02/2008 19:56

My ds has complained of a sore throat to could be that although she hasn't mentioned her throat hurting.

I had wondered about a urine infection but she is not too bad during the day, it's in the evening her temp rises and she looks poorly. Still like it tonight although went off to bed OK, but with bright red cheeks and hot again.

I think a trip to the doctors to check it out tomorrow.

bright red cheeks?
DS has that. he's got a really stuffed up nose and is a bit fevery. and extremely moody!

rosealbie · 20/02/2008 20:00

Yes that's it, although not really moody just touchy and always seems to feel cold. She also seems quite sensitive and doesn't want to be fussed.

YES! DS2 (5) has had this for the last week - we thought it was a cold at first, but then ti just didn't develop like a cold - spikey temperature, shivery etc, oh and VERY moody.
Took him to GP eventually and GP said it may be 'Slapped Cheek' - apparently very common in children, but not very serious - just need to 'ride it out'.
Poor DS2 - he's missed all of half term now!

Gameboy · 20/02/2008 20:13

Rosealbie - bright red cheeks - sounds VERY like Slapped Cheek in that case....

Gameboy · 20/02/2008 20:15

Not too serious for kids BTW, but important to keep them away from pregnant women!

rosealbie · 20/02/2008 21:19

so would the other symptoms, tiredness, feeling cold, tie in with slapped cheek?

I'd forgotton but she aslso said her back hurt yesterday and just now she woke up and said her tummy hurt.

She's gone back to sleep again OK now.

my ds 2 and dd have slapped cheek ds just got over it dd still got the conjunctivitus that occured with it and as for me I feel like I have swallowed sandpaper and I am very rarely ill

Gameboy · 20/02/2008 22:56

Yes - it all sounds the same rosealbie - apparently they can get mild arthritis symptoms (DS has complained of sore finger joints and also leg ache!), also general tiredness/ fatigue.

the good news is that once they've had it they have immunity, so shouldn't get it again

rosealbie · 21/02/2008 14:03

Been to the doctor's this morning and they think she may have a UTI so now on antibiotics.
