Hi

I have posted this on conception as well.
I have been diagnosed with a underactive thyroid and I am also ttc my 2nd dc.

I have been told a underactive thyroid can cause fertility problems which worried me.

Are there any fellow underactive thyroid sufferers who have this condition but managed to concieve okay.

My TSH was 6.6 on the last check and I am due shortly for another check.

Hi Worzik
I had an overactive thyroid which developed after the birth of DS1. It was so bad I had radioactive iodine to 'kill' the thyroid. Since then I have had to take thyroxine every day to keep my levels right. A tsh of over 5 is just out of 'normal' range. See what your next test result is but you might want to ask for an inrease in your thyroxine. Thyroid plays a critical role in conception and the succesful carrying of a baby long term. Unfortunately my sister endured 3 miscarriages before her thyroid problems were discovered. As soon as they were and she took thyroxine she got pregnant again and went full term. Good luck. I've years of thyoid experience behind me and it can be a minefield to navigate and understand.

worzil - did they adjust your dose following the 6.6 result?

being under can result in mc as mousemole says

I generally try to keep my TSH under 1. Conceived both DC without any trouble

I've found I feel best when TSH is between 1 and 2 like TheBlonde. Even above 3 I start to feel hypo - cold, shivery, forgetful etc.

Hi
Blonde yes they did, my thyroxine was increased from 50mg to 75.

I am due for another blood test next week to check it again.
