Hello, I’m posting about this on here due to exasperation and desperation. I’m hoping someone might have some experience or advice.
My partner has had a prostate infection for over a year. It makes him very tired and of course means our sex life has dwindled. It also causes him considerable discomfort. Over this period of time, he’s seen the GP three times and they’ve examined him and given him antibiotics for two weeks. He’s also had a scan to rule out anything sinister and that’s been clear.
So the doctors have taken it seriously which is good. However, every time he finishes a two week course of antibiotics, it comes back! It really affects his quality of life. I think he needs a longer course of antibiotics. Like 4-6 weeks. I’m against overuse of antibiotics due to the risk of antibiotic resistance but he really seems to need it. Has anyone else had a partner with prostatitis and and what treatment did the job for them?
Additionally, we’re ttc for five cycles with no luck. Can prostatitis affect fertility? The internet says yes and the GP says no. Surely it would affect fertility?
Thank you for any comments or advice you can give. We’re getting married on Thursday and he won’t even be able to enjoy his wedding day like he should. We are fed up! I’m delighted to be marrying him of course but it’s frustrating that this issue persists.
