How long from birth till period comes back

DD is just over 8 months old and I still haven't had a period yet and am starting to worry a little bit. I am breastfeeding in the morning and in the evening only maybe 15mins each feed.
This amount of feeding shouldn't be effecting this now should it?
In a funny way it is quite nice not having it but I don't want something to be wrong. How long until it came back for everybody.

Chuffed, my periods started again almost exactly a month after I last bf DS. I stopped bf when he was 9 months and so it was 10 months before they came back.

For the last month oe so of bf I wasn't feeding him much - I think some people don't start periods again until they have totally stopped breasfeeding wheras others start again within a month of birth despite excliusively bf.

Some people's periods don't start again until a while after they've stopped bf. All things are normal.

Am I right in thinking you're ttc?

Lack of periods must be annoying (although I know someone who hadn't had a period for months after she stopped bf to discover she was 4.5 months pregnant). She ovulated and conceived while she was bf and didn't realise. I think she had used pg tests when she must have been pg, but they were negative.

So it would be possible.

But anyway, I think that your body is definitely normal - there seems to be a wide variabiity in restarting periods (as hopefully other people will testify to)

dd - about 8 or 9 months (bf as your dd), conceived ds after about 2 periods!

ds - 11 months, still bf then too

Mine didn't return for nearly 11 months after ds birth. Got fed up with thinking I might be pg, spending a fortune on tests only to discover negative.
Was glad when they returned.

Mine came back after 13 months, long before I stopped breastfeeding.

And now, for the first time in my life, I'm as regular as clockwork and I hate it - I only ever used to have a couple of periods a year!

WWB that sounds just like me - any tricks for getting preggy again? Somewhat hard when you are totally all over the place. (oops didn't mean to change the subject)

Sorry, no - amazingly enough, I got pregnant with dd despite the fact that I was on the Pill ... in my case, I was ovulating, just not having periods.

11mths after dd1, first & only period. Then pregnant with ds straightaway, had bf dd1 til 8ths. usually all over the place!

i think all things are normal. i'm just glad i'm not my friend: regular as clockwork, 1st period 4 weeks after the birth of ds , and exclusively bf!

it's nice to have a break, but can understand where you're coming from with ttc chuffed :)
