OK, I was a very silly girl and DP and I had unprotected sex on Friday night, bloody wine!

I got the earliest appointment I could and went to the GP today. He gave me 2 MAPs and said that as it was 4 days and not 3 or less I needed to take them both. I am sitting here feeling dreadfully sick and also panicking in case it doesn't work.

Ant input gratefully received

I took the MAP - but didn't feel ill after it at all - DS3 is now 9 months old

bratnav · 20/02/2008 10:41

oh crap

I have no idea when my period is due. I stopped taking the pill around 2-3 weeks ago due to some major mod swing issues and had a small bleed then, but I was half way though the packet, so it wouldn't have een a 'proper' period.

I am sooo worried, I genuinely have no idea what DP will say, we have only been together a year

Oh I know he will be fab, he has already said that WE should have been more careful, and that he felt awful that I had to go through this, so he definitely accepts his fair share of responsibility

We were waiting for the GP to agree an appointment for the mirena coil to be fitted, hence no contraception for a couple of weeks, I feel like such a moron

Now is not really the right time, we have already talked about it and decided that in a couple of years it would be a lovely idea, not sure I could go through with a termination though.

I guess we have to jump off that bridge if we get to it.

Does anyone have any idea when I could test and get an accurate result?

Well done for contacting the FPC- what a pity that it was too late for a IUD.

Nausea is very common with the MAP, and isn't a reliable indicator as to whether it is 'working'. The most important thing is that you have kept them down!

Your next period may be difficult to predict, so I suggest you do a preg test in 10-14 days if you haven't come on by then.

In the meantime, get some decent contraception arranged- also keep 25 quid spare in case of any future accidents (human beings are fallible after all!), to save you going through all of this again.

All the best

CarGirl · 20/02/2008 21:21

poor you I hope it all works out okay in the end.

bratnav · 21/02/2008 08:27

Thanks emma and cargirl, here's hoping for a swift bleed or a BFN asap

I actually got a positive result fairly soon afterwards - probably a week after taking the MAP but I think everyone is different so who knows but I'd buy cheap tests and wait as long as possible.

bratnav · 22/02/2008 09:25

OK, I know I am panicking and probably psychosymatic (bad sp sorry) but I have started having quite a lot of clear discharge which I domn't normally get, also last night when DP and I were 'playing' my breasts sytarted hurting, and it wasn't like he was rough or anything (sorry if TMI)

Please tell me to pull myself together

have u done a test yet bn?

tutu100 · 22/02/2008 09:37

Please try to stop worrying. The clear discharge you are getting now could be a sign that you are now ovulating. In which case you should have AF in 2 weeks or so.

I don't know if it is the case in the area that you live in but a couple of months ago when I had to take the MAP I managed to find a pharmacy that could give it to me free of charge. I to didn't have 25 quid to buy it and it was a lot of hassle with the GP as it was a weekend.

I felt really crap for 2-3 weeks after taking the MAP, very bloated, terrible mood swings and very sore breats, but I wasn't pregnant. I think the huge dose of hormones just gave me really bad PMT.

Hope everything turns out the way you want it. Keep us posted.

bratnav · 22/02/2008 09:42

Haven't done a test yet as I think it is too soon, so even if I was pg it wouldn't show yet. I know I need to calm down and stop worrying, but it keeps nagging at the back of my head.

agree with tutu, all your signs could be due to normal menstrual cycle, i know its hard and i do sympathise with u

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 22/02/2008 09:54

hope you get the result you want
