White cells and trace of protein in urine

Hi everyone, I had my 28 week appointment today with midwife, my urine showed white cells and trace of protein, I have no signs of infection although do have thrush, but as far as I'm aware thrush wouldn't show in urine? Just feel very worried and concerned with this result, especially the protein in urine this has really freaked me out, my bp was completely normal and not high. Has anyone had protein in urine and it not be anything sinister?
Thanks x

Yes, can just be contamination, and discharge can show up as protein.

I would definitely keep an eye on it. My first sign of pre eclampsia was slight traces of protein in urine, my blood pressure didn't start climbing until a few weeks later.

Hoping it just discharge as I definitely do have a lot of it, really worried now incase pre eclampsia :(

As a previous poster said, most likely it's just contamination. You will continue to be monitored as routine when you see your midwife. It really isn't something to worry about at this point, it's very common and usually leads to nothing. Try not to worry.

I had this with my twins.

They weren't concerned but sent to lab anyway. The midwife said usually it's just discharge and try to do a mid stream wee sample next time and she also said the samples you use can also be contaminated given these readings.

It was sent to the lab and infection didn't show so must've been contaminated. She said it happens a lot.

Im a midwife. Your thrush is most likely the cause for the white blood cells in there. If your BP was normal and you have no signs of pre eclampsia (headaches, visual disturbances, epigastric pain) then I wouldn't give the protein a second thought if it is only a trace. If you did have high BP or symptoms then you should have some bloods taken. Or if the amount of protein increases. We see people with a trace all of the time and it usually means nothing at all.
