Hi all, can anyone give me any idea of what the problem is that I have with my right leg.

I've had this problem for the past 7 years and still can't work out what is causing it.

I have pain like a severe dull ache pain in my right leg and foot. The pain starts mainly from the right knee and then down towards the foot. I get mainly more pain in the back of the leg and heel of my right foot.

There is also pain just below the knee. This pain is there all the time, when walking and when resting. I notice that is does tend to look more swollen compared to the other leg, also there is some numbness and tingling sensation in the foot and leg at times. I can see some of my veins very clearly in parts of the leg. It is also very tender to touch and can bruise very easily. There is also some discolouration of purple/blue colour just above the ankle.
I have also got complete hair loss on both legs.
I'm worried as I'm hoping there is no blood clot there.
If anyone has any ideas then please let me know.
Many thanks

It sounds more like neuropathy OP. Or peripheral vascular disease maybe-do you/did you smoke??? Or had diabetes? I've got this below knee on right leg- do you get pins and needles

Hi, in reply to your question, I definitely get pins and needles in the right leg and foot every day. I've wondered about Peripheral Vascular Disease before, also I am a past smoker and have been in contact with people who smoke a lot.
I have never been diagnosed with diabetes, but it's definitely in my family as my dad and brother both have type 2 diabetes.

I've been trying to send a photo, but it doesn't seem to attach when I select it.

What does your GP say?

Timeforchangeithink · 19/05/2023 23:47

Most likely thyroid particularly with the hairloss

Have you had your Vitamin B12 checked? I started with excruciating pain in my bunions, which spread up my legs. I figured it was arthritis, then my feet started to go numb, which spread up to over half way up my thighs. I had MRI scans as my neurologist thought I could have MS, but the only thing that showed up was low B12 from my bloods. Despite self injecting every day for a year & every other dayever since, none of my feeling has come back. I was messed around by my GP for 6 months before I got a referral & then Covid hit, according to my Nerve Conduction Studies, the damage is so severe it is likely to be permanent. Don't mess around, see a doctor ASAP & ask for blood tests as the first line in tests, if anything shows up ask to see a consultant, if you have a long wait it is worth going private, my consultation cost me £150 & my consultant moved me straight to his NHS clinic & for the scans, had I waited to see him on the NHS it could have been a 3 year wait.

My Gp doesn't seem that concerned, even though it's affecting me on a daily basis, and I'm a full time carer for my disabled son, who is autistic, with severe learning Difficulties.
I have had a ABPI test done several times and it comes back Satisfactory, which the Gp then thinks, that it's of no concern.
Re: my thyroid was tested and came back as slightly under-active. I showed this to my Gp and he did nothing, which I find very frustrating.
