Cancer possibly returning or am I over thinking things?

This is about my Mum. She had bowel cancer in 2021, received the all clear thankfully six months later. Had her first check up scan and consultant was really pleased. Another scan last November, again all good.

She started to have symptoms about 2 months ago, funny taste in her mouth which turned out to be because of anaemia caused by the cancer. GP organised a full set of blood tests and all came back perhaps a month ago and all were really good and the GP was happy.

Her routine scan was yesterday and then she has a follow up with the consultant at the end of July. After her scan yesterday, the radiologist told her she shouldn’t wait until the end of July for her consultant appointment and to call the consultant’s secretary and ask for an appointment two weeks from yesterday’s scan date.

After speaking with my mum today and her telling me this my head has gone into a complete spin and I can’t stop getting upset. I get that waiting 10 weeks or so from the scan date to the consultant appointment is a long time, but the fact the radiologist has said within 2 weeks has made me think here we go again and it’s bad news. I know you won’t be able to diagnose anything but would you read into this that it isn’t good news? Would all of her blood tests have been absolutely fine if she had got cancer again?

Thank you for reading this.
