Should I be concerned - Breast swelling

I noticed on Sunday evening that my left breast had swelled dramatically and felt very hard. I have not knocked it or hurt it to my knowledge and there is no bruising, lumps or swelling. It is not painful however it is uncomfortable and heavy.

I decided to see how it was in the morning and when I woke up it was the same so I got a GP appointment for the same day. It is worth saying at this point that I had Breast Implants 8.5 years ago privately. I have never had any problems with them. They are 500cc, under the muscle implants. Potentially not related but I have also had on and off pins and needles in my left arm and hand for the past 3/4 weeks.

I told my GP all of the above and she did a physical examination. She said maybe the implant has moved or ruptured and she sent me to the Same Day Emergency Care unit at my local hospital.

I went to the SDEC unit and the same happened there. They did a physical examination and agreed with the GP that is was possibly a problem with my implant. They said I would be referred to the breast unit and that I would receive a phone call either the same day or the day after (today). I haven’t had a phone call which is fine as I understand how under pressure the NHS is and I am really happy with how quickly I have been seen already.

I have had a good feel of my breasts today and I am convinced that I can feel my implant from the underneath of my breast as I have always been able to. It feels the same on both sides. The swelling is all at the top of my breast so I am now wondering if it isn’t actually anything to do with my implant.

Should I be pushing to try and get some bloods done or a scan? I feel fine in myself, I have back ache on my left side and a few twinges in the left breast but I am also aware that I’m very anxious and so any little niggle is registering with me because of the situation.

If it is a ruptured implant or a displacement does anyone know what they will do? I did ask and they said they will probably just have to whip it out but they will only take the one out. I believe I can have another set for free if I have a definite diagnosis of rupturing but at this point I really just want them both out as it was something that I did when I was younger but since having my son I’m really not bothered about their appearance anymore.

Sorry for the long post and thankyou for reading. Just wondering really if anyone has ever been in the same situation? I’m mainly concerned that the fact that I’ve got implants has prevented any actual testing being done and it might be completely unrelated to that and a bigger, more worrying problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just a little bump.

The swelling has got worse and the bottom is now getting hard whereas it was quite soft before. Shooting pains in arm pit and the breast.

Called Same Day Emergency Care who examined me on Monday. They said to call Breast Unit who put me through to referrals but nobody answering. Called again and they said someone would be in touch.

Sounds like an emergency to me. You could call 111.
I'd go to A/E if no success with breast unit.

I would go to a and e. Take care of yourself.

Oh OP this must be very worrying for you!
I too would go to a and e!
I'm sure and hope it's nothing sinister but you don't want to play with those symptoms just incase!
I would be hoping for bloods and a a scan, but I'm sure they will no a lot more then me!

Is there any update on this as believe I am in the same situation. Please let me know how you got on.

Thanks
