Fed up with Herpes

Please anyone that can sympathise or give me any advice 🙏🏻
I was diagnosed with genital herpes back in August 2022 which I suspected I had but kept getting misdiagnosed so I’m guessing I’ve had it for just over 2 years now. I’ve not told anyone about my diagnosis as I feel too ashamed so just dealing with it on my own. I’m currently single and can’t even think about dating as I don’t know how I would tackle that. I unfortunately get back to back outbreaks since I first got it with very little let up. I begged the doctors to put me on antivirals in December as I physically and mentally couldn’t take it anymore and they put me on aciclovir twice daily of which has been great and had no outbreaks until the end of April and bam I’m back to back to back outbreaks again!!!!
I keep hearing that over time they die down and you get less and less outbreaks but this doesn’t seem to be happening for me. It’s really starting to get to me mentally and I’m fed up of constant outbreaks. Nothing seems to be working for me!!
Has anyone got a similar story or any tips. I feel like I’ve tried everything.

Thanks in advance 😊

Are you still on suppressive anti virals?

I think valaciclovir is better than aciclovir but it is more expensive so not first line treatment

Yes I’m still on them.
I might give the doctors a call and get them to prescribe me with valaciclovir if it’s stronger.
Thanks for the advise 😊

You can buy it yourself online. Its brand name is called Valtrex (Valaciclovir) I get a viral skin infection on my shoulder and just buy it online now.

I don't know if it's stronger but you only take a tablet a day I think and I find I just tolerate it better

Another vote for Valtrex here. I've been on them for over 15 years and I only get an outbreak if I stop them. But sadly I get an outbreak within a week if I do stop.
