I'm in a bit of a state of panic.
Just want to state I have just finished my period but this is not coming from my vagina.
The blood is turning the whole toilet bowl red.
I haven't passed a bowel motion today just had this.
I don't know what to do...

Its most internal piles or a fissure. It's likely nothing serious if the blood is red and fresh (not brown or dark). But you should make an appointment with your GP tomorrow just to rule anything out, NHS always say to get any bleeding checked just in case.

I'm going to call the doctors in the morning I see what they say.
I'm a little worried cause I've never experienced this before.
The water wasn't pink, it was bright red...

Bright red means it's most likely fresh blood, so caused by piles or something like that. I got the doctor to check me before and they said I had some internal haemorrhoids.

DustyLee123 · 14/05/2023 21:49

I would imagine it’s a fissure or piles. Don’t panic, the water makes it look more than it is.
‘Can you feel anything on your anus , like a lump ?

Timeforabiscuit · 14/05/2023 21:52

Have you eaten anything different lately? Beetroot, smoothies, anything with strong food colouring?

Have you got any pain?

Have you recently had a very large poo?

I scared myself finding bright red blood, but the cause was piles, a bit on anusol and it was sorted - they are very common, but nobody tells you what piles actually are! I thought they were on the bum, but they're actually inside the anal passage.

Inkblue · 14/05/2023 21:52

Always get rectal bleeding check out.

AnonyMenOhPee · 14/05/2023 21:55

I wouldn’t prod about checking for lumps you’ll drive yourself mad. Ring the dr tomorrow and make an appointment. I used to have this regularly but it was diagnosed as haemorrhoids

Nordicmom · 14/05/2023 21:56

I’ve had this a few times and had a colonoscopy, it was a fissure that

by then was already healing but she told me if it was bothering me to come back and that she could burn it easily and that would fix it . It has happened a few times after that but I haven’t panicked like the first time . If it does again I might have to go get it done .

BreatheFocusRelax · 15/05/2023 19:20

So I haven't had anything today.
It was mainly yesterday.
I hadn't eaten anything that would cause the colouring to change.
There was no stool either time I went & it was just pure being red blood.
Which looking into they say that fresh blood isn't that such of a concern & could be haemorrhoids.
I haven't passed a large bowel motion either so I have no idea what it was all about?

If I was you I would go have it investigated! I’d get a referral to a colonoscopy and rather be safe than sorry !

DGay · 15/05/2023 20:19

I've had that, too. My problem was hemorrhoids from constipation.

saraclara · 15/05/2023 20:25

Most likely to be haemeorrhoids, but still get it checked.

The 'fresh bright blood blood means it's okay' thing is sadly not always true. It's less common to be fesh blood when it comes to bowel cancer, but if the tumour is low down in the bowel, blood from it will be bright red. I only mention it because I don't want people to fall into that trap and not see their doctor.

It's very likely that, given the suddenness of the blood in your case OP (and without any other symptoms) it's most likely to be haemorrhoids.

According to the NHS website, bleeding from your arse, bright red with no associated pain, then you should wait three weeks as it's not uncommon for it to be a one off.

As you can realise, it happened to me on Easter monday. V v scary. But I followed the guidelines on the website and, fingers crossed, no 're occurance.

I guess it was an internal pile or something.

I would say it scared the shit out of me but that may be too lavatorial, or something.

Xrays · 15/05/2023 20:31

I’ve had this and it was a fissure. No constipation either - I’ve got ibs and if anything I’m always the other way round. Do get it checked out though.
