Weird lump on eyelid for over a year photo included

Hi, second post today and it's eye related again! 🙈
But I have had this weird lump on my eyelid for over a year now. I've noticed it's very white looking and it can be moved under the skin.
It isn't painful but was very bruised and tender for a couple of weeks when it started but I just ignored it 🤦‍♀️ now I'm starting to worry that it could be something serious and I've left it too long. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not a medical anything but it looks pretty harmless to me, probably a cyst. Book in to see your gp and tell them it's getting painful.

A friend of mine had something very similar a couple of years ago . She said it was something to do with cholesterol. Can't remember the details but pretty sure it was harmless

I'd show that to a doctor

Do you think it could be serious?

Looks like a cyst. I had one and eventually it popped a little hard white thing out.

Is it hard or squishy?

@4kinell that's xanthelasma but usually that's more yellow, not always connected to high cholesterol. Again, not serious.

I think it’s called a chalazion. My 5 yo son has had one for ages. I did ask the doc to look at it years ago and they weren’t worried. It’s doesn’t cause any trouble but I think they can get red and swollen sometimes.

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/05/2023 19:14

It looks like a cyst to me. I had one which, initially was red and tender like a stye, but then settled to be a small, movable lump like yours.
My GP said it would most likely just sit there and remain unchanged but there was a possibility it could get infected so to go back if it got bigger, red or sore.
It didn't do any of those things but it was quite close to my lashline and made make up awkward so I had mine removed privately

It's kind of hard I think, if I pinch the area I can feel like a hardish lump but it is movable under the skin

It’s a little cyst, I had an identical one in the same place. I had mine surgically removed because it was growing over time. No problem whatsoever.

MissHoollie · 08/05/2023 19:18

Oh I had one of these for years. Kept periodically squeezing and one day a spherical white lump popped out

Cherryblossom99 · 08/05/2023 19:33

Thanks all, I will keep an eye on it 🤪 and see the GP if I notice any changes
