I have had a red rash all over my body since Saturday. I look like I have been dipped in red paint. Now my joints are sore. My neck and shoulder are sore, and all the joints in my wrists, ankles and knees. I know it's not a Fibro flare up as the pain for it affects the muscles, not the joints. I am soooo tired as well. DS1 has a similar rahs on his face and arms. His isn't as bad as mine, and he hasn't any pain. I couldn't dress myself today, DH had to help me, the pain is so bad in my wrists and elbows

This is the fibro that they think you haven't got that has now flared up, yes? Tis madness

Hello DG

LoveMyGirls · 19/02/2008 20:27

Hope you feel better soon! Didnt the doc suggest anything to ease the symptoms?

I think i'd go to A&E for a second opinion if results come back clear. What did he says your ds had as that can't be the Fibro?

Hello Saggar and thanks for your thoughts Saltire. You are right, I haven't been about much lately, but will probably get sucked right back into the MN black hole now that I have time on my hands again! It is lovely to see friendly faces.

What did the GP say to the fact that ds1 is also showing similar symptoms?

To cheer you up,saltire

Saltire, i had a similar thing which turned out to be the adult form of slapped cheek syndrome. Just wondered if it might be that? I was beginning to get freaked out by the pain in my wrists and ankles until I found out what it was.

I was thinking this def sounds like slapped cheek. It is going round ten fold at the moment. My DD's have both had it recently and it lasts for ages. flares up and down for several weeks.

Found it quite hard to get diagnosed for some reason even though it is really common. Kept getting told DD had allergies. At one point she was unable to walk with the pain (even though kids are not supposed to get that)

If it is slapped cheek I think theres not much you can do. It can be dire for pregnant women though so might be worth staying away from anyone preggers just in case!

Poor you! I'm sorry that your GP hasn't been any more help.

I agree with Hunker. I too had post viral athritis, once after a normal virus and once after parvovirus. It was incredibly painful. I had a rash all over, my joints were swollen, red and itchy and I looked like the elephant man. I think it maybe worth a second opinion although iirc they couldn't do anythng about it anyway. Hope you feel better soon.

I definately think it's connected to the rash which Ds1 has, and it's not a Fibro flare up, I think I have adult slapped cheek! Ds1 has slapped cheeka nd I ahve the adult version!
I have read up on the symptoms and it seems as though we both have it and now DS2 has a red rash, runny nose and temp!
My joints are still sore, but not as swollen, the rash has almost gone but still have terrible itching

Sorry to hear how poorly y9ou are - sounds like post viral arthritis - stg I had after 2 bouts of flu and just before an outbreak of mumps 2 yrs ago. V. painful. In Jan. this yr. I started to run a vv high temp and my knee ballooned and I ended up being rushed to hospital for 2.5 wks with a v. severe strep. A infection in my knee joint and almost lost a leg. So if it gets really bad do go to A&E. I couldn't move and was sreaming in pain and went, but if I hadn't I wouldn't be here now. Not wanting to scare you but go with your instinct about what is ok and what isn't. A quick blood test would prob. give some idea of your condition. Hope you are recovering though by now.
