7th cold this year… feeling miserable

Just as the title says.
I know it’s just a cold but … Feeling absolutely fed up. Woke up with a terrible headache and sore throat so know next one has started. Each one has been heavy.

Had blood tests done and chest x ray. All ok.
As soon as I get over one, a week or 10 days later next one starts.

Taking supplements, prioritising sleep, eating well etc etc.

What can I do to boost my immunity and get out of this awful cycle?

Any help greatly appreciated 🙁

Thank you for reading.

Regular saline rinses - get a netipot. And have you tried infrared?

Twoshoesnewshoes · 06/05/2023 22:58

I started taking a probiotic to increase gut immunity, it has helped I think.

@GrumpyPanda saline rinses sounds a good call, thanks.
I’m not familiar with infrared as a treatment, off to Google it.

@Twoshoesnewshoes DH has been talking about this lately, how often do you take them?

OP posts:
Twoshoesnewshoes · 06/05/2023 23:21

every day now, I guess they won’t do any harm?

Coxspurplepippin · 06/05/2023 23:26

It's flaming ridiculous at the moment - neither DH nor I have been properly well since before Christmas. We've both had two proper debilitating bouts of a fluey type virus (not COVID) and general sniffles/sore throats.

We're both taking vit C and D but have about had enough........

anewbook · 07/05/2023 09:02

Thanks for the suggestions.
I’m going to try all of them.

@Coxspurplepippin Its’s awful isn’t it. Just when you think you’ve got better, you’re ill again. Hope you are both feeling well again soon.

After three bouts of Covid and endless colds, I started taking a really good multi vitamin- lots of B12, which is really helpful for immunity.
I use the wellwoman 50+ , I’m not 50 yet but often have lower iron so this one is good for me. The prebiotic seems to help too.

Great to hear you are finally on the up @Twoshoesnewshoes after a rough run of things. B12 is a great call, I don’t think I have enough of this. Going to do a Boots shop later!

Vitamin D helps me

startingoveragainagain · 08/05/2023 20:06

I have had a cold since the beginning of March, I have also had conjunctivitis for a month, this weekend my cold has been overly bad (it seems to come in waves, at a minimum I have sinus pain, a sore throat) and i've had an upset stomach.
About 3 weeks ago I went to the Dr and she said i'd feel better in the spring. I demanded a blood test because I am never ever ill (in fact failure at IVF was due to my overly strong immune system), however, my bloods came back normal.

I am so tired of being sick, it's making me so low.

After reading the above i'm going to start taking vitamins and see if they help.

But wanted to say you aren't alone.
