Strange chest pains

Hi, first post but I'm really hoping for some advice or reassurance.
I've been suffering from intermittent chest pains for a few months now. The GP thinks it may be muscular but I'm terrified it may be heart related. I have constant pain in the centre of my chest which periodically shoots up into my jaw and up the 'midline' to my left shoulder resulting in a numbing of my left arm and pain in my scapula. In between the sharp pains I have a constant dull ache in the left side of my chest, left arm and scapula. I'm also constantly breathless.
I've had chest xrays, ECG's and ultra sound on my liver and kidneys which are normal. I haven't had my heart checked due to the Dr ruling out heart problems.
Does anyone else suffer from these symptoms and can offer reassurance that my heart is fine? I don't want to keep returning to the Dr as there isn't much more they can do at this point. I'd be able to cope if I wasn't convinced that every sharp attack was a potential heart attack.

I'm not sure if I can help but I've been experiencing the same for most of this year. Intermittent chest pain that limits my activities and keeps me awake at night. Also palpitations and breathlessness on occasion.

This has been happening since I caught covid in December - could it be similar for you?

I have also had the usual test, ECG, chest xray etc.. and all came back normal. I had some blood tests done which showed very low levels of folate which I have read can cause anaemia and some of the symptoms I have been experiencing. I've been taking a folic acid supplement for the last month but I have read it can take several months for levels to normalise and for symptoms to improve. Worth testing for B12 and folate deficiencies if you haven't already.

I have concluded that in my case it is probably long covid and/or vitamin deficiency related or possibly muscle/cartilage inflammation (costochondritis) which can also occur after respiratory illnesses. But I can empathise with the worry and fear that might be cardiac as I feel the same sometimes, though I can usually reassure myself with the fact that nothing showed up on the tests and that there are many other (more likely for my profile/demographic) explanations.

Hope you find some answers and start feeling better soon.

Hi I get chest pains shortness of breath and I have just had my bloods back and I’m low in folate so I’m on folic acid tablets for 4 months I’ve had these chest pains for 2 years had loads of different test even a heart scan and they have said my heart is fine no blockages and it’s all functioning normally so o have no idea what’s causing mine daily but it’s draining

I had chest pains and shortness of breath and went frequently to A&E I was told it was muscular and they couldn’t find anything wrong It was only after a change to my ECG reading and further tests it was found that I had had a heart attack.
Women with heart problems do not present the same as males so often get dismissed.

You need an echocardiogram to rule heart issues out and 24/48 hour ecg. If GP won't refer you, have it done privately usually about £200/£300. Personally I wouldn't risk it. If those tests come back clear then at least you know for sure.

Alternatively you could have vitamin deficiency or be dehydrated which exacerbates muscle spasms in your chest.
