Auditory hallucinations

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this and what it means. Is it something to be concerned about or is it normal.

Ive had auditory hallucinations since I was a child. It’s not something that happens daily but tends to happen in a few close together then nothing for a while then the same pattern again.

They range from people whispering, to shouting to sudden loud music.

they are sort of common...by which I mean they are the most common sort of hallucination. Maybe 8-10 per cent of people have them.
They can be associated with mental illness, medication, physical disorders of the brain...but also may not be.
Some poeple get hypnogogic hallucinations....those are hallucinations just before going to sleep...if we counted those more than 10 percent would have them.

they would only be owrrying if they were intrusive, chnging or affecting the way you engage with the world or live your life.

Thank you @Imperfect10 the one’s before sleep are the majority of mine, fewer happen when I’m fully awake. It’s also never that whatever I hear is talking directly to me. It’s more like passing conversations. Glad to hear it’s fairly common.

Yes I get this before sleep, especially after a day where I've been around a lot of people, done a lot of talking etc.
I usually open my eyes and tell them all to shut up...usually works!
