Alcohol after GA/minor op

Morning all,

I had a minor op around 2pm yesterday for Metal removed from leg (one plate and screws). The op was minor and lasted approx 30min.

Feeling right as rain today and fresh eyed and bushy tailed (fyi anyone having this kind of procedure soon, very little pain apart from stinging at the wound site and able to weightbare)

I have a Coronation party later today. Will a glass of prosecco or maybe a bottle of beer be ok?

I forgot to ask at the hospital at the time and Dr Google says to avoid for two weeks and some say around 24hrs.

Has anyone drank a day after GA before?

I was told avoid for 24 hours after recent GA (my procedure was a similar length of time to yours). It was my birthday the day after the procedure and consultant said I'd be fine to have wine with dinner although when it came to it I just didn't fancy it anyway!

Thank you @ChrisPPancake

I slept like crap last night so I probably will be back in bed by 12pm anyway 😉

I'd say 24 hours should be fine. Just be aware your tolerance may be lower, drink water with it and take it easy.

I think 24 hours is fine too. The only thing I'd caution is that GAs tend to make me super emotional and I think alcohol might exacerbate that but one or two glasses will be fine I'm sure.

Thank you.
Yeh I'm not going to go banzai on the booze. I have holes in my bones now lol
