How much preparation do you need to do to walk the camino?

Anybody done it? Can you tell me where you were with lengths of walks and frequency of walks before you did it. Was it massively hugely challenging, or just energy expended//?

I know that you'd have the whole day though. If I could do a 14k walk 2 days in a row, Saturday and Sunday as well as shorter ones every day after work, would I be ready for longer 20k walks?

Just hoping to hear experiences from people who did this. Nothing's booked, i'm not deluding myself I can walk 300k when I never get up off the sofa. It's not like that.

Sign up to this website. It has a forum where current and past Camino walkers of all abilities will share advice. You can scroll through FAQs or pose a question. Helpful bunch of experienced Camino walkers will help. Lots of other advice such as pack weight, shoes, getting a bed, routes, safety, and so on.

oh wow, thanks for these replies. I walked 7k today, I'll walk 9 tomorrow.

I'll have a look at those sites.
